What it does

Simple on purpose.

No menus to learn. Draw a line, see the climbs, save it when you like it.

Click it or scribble it

Click to drop points, press 2 to pick between the router's ways, or press 3 and doodle the shape of the ride. Either way the line snaps to roads. Drag any point to move it.

See every climb

The elevation strip shows grade, height and distance under your cursor. Drag across a stretch to reroute it, split the route there, or try a different way.

Lots of routes at once

Keep several routes on the map, switch between them in Active Routes, and join two into one longer ride.

Stops and silly stamps

Drop real stops (coffee, water, bike shops and 36 more) or just a cow, a goose or a pothole. Click any marker for its details.

Paved, gravel, or 3D

Tell it whether you want pavement, dirt or either, and see the surface on the map. Press T to tilt into 3D terrain.

Find it, save it

Press / to search for a place and route from it or to it. Press ⌘S to send one route or all of them to your Ride with GPS account, and put them on a new or existing event.

Bring routes in

Pull routes from your Ride with GPS library, or drop GPX and TCX files on the map. Each one comes in as its own route, ready to change.

Trails and toys

Turn on MTB trails, colored by difficulty. Or open the Fun menu for a party, a melt, a night ride and a little riding game.

Install

Two ways in.

On a Mac: Rüdle is a hobby project, so it isn't registered with Apple. Your Mac will ask you to confirm the first time you open it. That only happens once.

Download the zip

For most people.

  1. Download Rudle.zip and double-click it to unzip.
  2. Drag Rüdle into your Applications folder.
  3. Open it. Your Mac will say it can't check the app. Click Done.
  4. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and click Open Anyway. Enter your password.
  5. That's it. Rüdle opens normally from now on.

Or one Terminal line

Installs into Applications and opens it, with no warning to click through.

Beta

Windows and Linux.

Brand new and not tried by many people yet. Same app, same map. Tell Brian what breaks.

Windows

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

  1. Download Rudle-setup.exe and open it.
  2. Windows may say it protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Finish the installer. Rüdle is in the Start menu. Shortcuts use Ctrl where the Mac uses ⌘.

Linux

64-bit. Ubuntu 24.04 or newer, Debian 13, Fedora 40+ or Arch.

  1. Download Rudle.deb.
  2. Install it: sudo apt install ./Rudle.deb
  3. Open Rüdle from your app menu.

Saving

Keep it in Ride with GPS.

Planning works without an account. To keep your routes, press ⌘S. The first time, Ride with GPS opens in a small window where you sign in and approve Rüdle. Then tick the routes to send, pick who can see them, and add an event if you like. You only sign in once, and Rüdle never sees your password.

No account yet? You can make a free one at ridewithgps.com. Saved routes show up in your library there and in the Ride with GPS app on your phone.
